The first announcement Microsoft made is that the company now has a dedicated Inclusive Tech Lab, where Microsoft will continue to work on and develop new accessibility features for all types of disabilities. Windows 11 is getting more accessibility features, some of which are currently available for those testing upcoming Windows 11 releases through the Insiders program. New features include improvements to the Focus feature with a timer, live captions for any audio being played (during a Zoom or Teams call, for example), along with better voice access and a more natural narrator voice....

During the virtual event introducing the devices, Chief Device Officer Panos Panay highlighted the ways that Windows 11 will unlock new features in the Surface PCs that are coming, especially in the areas of touch and inking. You can imagine, then, that it’s a big feat to apply machine learning to make a robotic arm help a human put on their jacket. Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Monday published the details of a study in which they demonstrated a robot arm helping a human, and offered details as to why the procedure they claim is provably safe for people. In the demonstration, a robotic arm has a vest in its grip, with the human’s right arm through the armhole which it then slowly tugs upward to the shoulder....

The feature – which tells websites not to sell or share your personal data – was only available in Firefox Nightly, their pre-release channel. But as of this week, GPC will be available for all Firefox users to turn on if they wish to. Unfortunately for most US users, this feature may not have much effect. The GPC is required under the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) and Europe’s Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as Colorado’s privacy law, but no other states have laws that will enforce it....

According to Microsoft, the force is retiring, re-architecting, or replacing over 200 legacy systems with cloud-based systems. Part of this transformation is changing the way the force analyses CCTV footage. Labelled as the “AI/ML-infused Insights policing platform”, the system essentially speeds up the processing of data. In one example, NSW Police collected 14,000 pieces of CCTV as part of a murder and assault investigation and analysed it in a manner faster than it previously could....

The first product based on Hopper will be the H100, which contains 80 billion transistors, is built on TSMC’s 4N process, and delivers three to six times more performance than the Ampere-based A100. OnePlus is now much more embedded with its BBK Electronics stablemate Oppo, a fact that’s particularly noticeable in the overlay that’s applied onto Android 12.
