However, one scheme continues to take the fight to ransomware gangs and has now helped over 1.5 million victims successfully decrypt their machines without giving into ransom demands, preventing an estimated $1.5 billion from ending up in the hands of cyber criminals. The figures come from Europol on the sixth anniversary of No More Ransom, the European Union law enforcement agency’s anti-ransomware initiative. Rapid7 delivered fourth quarter revenue of $151.6 million, up 34% from a year ago. For the fourth quarter, Rapid7’s non-GAAP earnings of -$0.16 a share were above expectations. Wall Street was expecting Rapid7 to report fourth quarter earnings of -$0.17 a share on revenue of $145.88 million. For 2021, Rapid7 reported a total revenue of $535.3 million and a products revenue of more than $500 billion. The company grew its customer base last year from 8,718 to 10,283....

The result, said Cisco’s Jeetu Patel, is “there’s a lot of experimentation going on right now. Do you work from home, and two days a week you come into the office? Do you have a completely distributed workforce? Julius Gustavsson, a technical expert and system architect at Volvo Cars Corporation, explains “Why Rust is actually good for your car” in an interview on Medium with fellow Volvo software engineer, Johannes Foufas. Rust is a relatively young language that helps developers avoid memory related bugs that C and C++ do not automatically, hence Rust’s growing popularity in systems programming. Memory related bugs are the most common severe security issues, according to Microsoft and Google’s Chrome team....

The biggest change in these new packages is that the Rust code proposed for the kernel now relies on the stable Rust compiler rather than the beta compilers. Going forward, Rust on Linux will be migrating every time a new stable Rust compiler is released. Currently, it’s using Rust 1.57.0. The outlook comes as Salesforce kicked off its investor meeting at Dreamforce. The company upped its fiscal 2022 revenue guidance to between $26.25 billion to $26.35 billion. Wall Street was looking for fiscal 2022 revenue of $26.31 billion. Salesforce’s fiscal year ends Jan. 31.
